ANALYSIS OF POPULATION AWARENESS ABOUT PALLIATIVE CARE FOR CANCER PATIENTS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
Introduction. Palliative care (PC) has traditionally focused on the needs of dying patients and the support of their loved ones. As a rule, we are talking about oncological diseases. The growing needs of people with severe chronic diseases, as well as new scientific evidence for the effectiveness of PC, indicate the need for wider application of this type of care and its close integration with various health services.
Objective: Analysis of public awareness about the provision of PC to cancer patients in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Results: The study involved 2226 respondents, of whom 81% were women and 19.7% were men. According to the results of a continuous anonymous survey, the level of awareness of the population about the provision of PC to oncological patients in the Republic of Kazakhstan was revealed, which in turn may further influence the solution of medical, social and economic problems associated with organizational issues of providing PC to patients with various nosological forms of chronic diseases. in the terminal stage of development.
Сonclusions: Determining the level of public awareness of the provision of PС is an integral part of assessing the current situation and can further help in the development of evidence-based recommendations in order to optimize the provision of PС, as well as improve the quality of life of patients with cancer.
