.Abstract
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common disorder of the esophagus. The symptoms of GERD are highly variable. Nevertheless, heartburn, acid regurgitation, and dysphagia can be clearly identified among them. Medical history, 24-hour pH monitoring, and visual examination methods of the esophagus form the basis for verifying the diagnosis of GERD. Treatment of GERD includes lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy.
