MODERN TREATMENT OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA

Abstract

The treatment of bronchial asthma (BA) follows a stepwise or staged approach. The goal of stepwise therapy is to achieve therapeutic efficacy by using a minimum of medications. All drugs for the medical treatment of BA are divided into two types: drugs for use on demand and relief of exacerbations, and drugs for long-term disease control. The persistent nature of inflammation in BA requires the prescription of anti-inflammatory therapy. The most effective drugs for relieving BA symptoms are fast-acting agonists. Systemic and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) are also effective means of basic therapy for BA.
