THE USE OF FLUVOXAMINE IN THE TREATMENT OF POST-STROKE DEPRESSION

Abstract

For many years, stroke has occupied a leading position among other diseases, causing death and disability worldwide. Depression is a dangerous complication of stroke, and emotional state has an influence on the course of the disease. According to various authors, the frequency of post-stroke depression development ranges from 25% to 79%. This article describes the prescription of an antidepressant from the fluvoxamine group (Fevarin R) in basic therapy. The drug demonstrated high efficacy and a necessary safety profile for this group of patients.
