ON THE TREATMENT OF ECHINOCOCCAL CYSTS OF THE LIVER IN CHILDREN
Keywords:
echinococcal cystsAbstract
It is generally accepted that most carriers of echinococcus become infected in childhood, and the slow growth of the cyst allows it to be detected many years later. In the child's organism, the echinococcal parasite displays a clearly pronounced expansive growth and an undulating course. All this testifies to the importance of early diagnosis and timely surgical treatment. However, to date there are no clear criteria for the severity of echinococcal disease and early diagnosis of the condition taking into account the anatomical and physiological features of the growing organism; further improvement of surgical treatment methods is required, and the methods of closing the residual echinococcal cyst remain debatable.
