.Abstract
Nonsteroidalantiinflammatory drugs (NSAID) are the agents which are most commonly used in the treatment of pain
syndromes of various etiology, mainly due to rheumatic diseases. In addition to their nonspecific analgesic and inflammatory
effects, these drugs inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, which may have both a the rapeutical effect and side (adverse) reactions
of the upper gastrointestinal mucosa (hemorrhages, erosions, ulcers), namely NSAID-induced gastropathies that are frequently complicated by life-threatening bleedings and perforations.
