EVIDENCE-BASED NURSING PRACTICE. LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction. Evidence-based nursing practice stands as a cornerstone in contemporary medical care, with the primary objective of delivering top-notch healthcare, ensuring patient safety, and enhancing the effectiveness of medical services. In recent years, it has evolved into an indispensable component of the nursing field, underscoring the significance of amalgamating up-to-date research, clinical expertise, and patient choices.
The aim of this review is to outline the existing evidence concerning the global progression of evidence-based nursing practice.
Search strategy. The exploration for information sources was conducted across the following databases: Pubmed, ResearchGate, Cyberleninka, eLibrary. The review encompassed original research (both descriptive and analytical studies), supplementary research (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), methodological guides, clinical directives, and comprehensive publications in both Russian and English languages over the past 30 years.
Results and conclusion. Through the adoption of evidence-based nursing practice, nurses actively engage in the decision-making process, informed by the most reliable evidence at hand. This methodology not only enhances the quality of healthcare but also enhances its safety, factors in the unique attributes of each patient, and augments the efficacy of medical interventions. The bedrock of evidence-based nursing practice lies in the commitment to perpetual learning and personal professional growth. This necessitates that nurses be prepared to critically assess research, assimilate new knowledge and skills, and implement them in their daily routines. Evidence-based nursing practice not only elevates the standard of nursing care provided to patients but also establishes high benchmarks for the nursing profession as a whole. Given the swiftly evolving field of medicine and the constantly changing landscape of healthcare delivery, it remains an essential component of contemporary nursing practice and will continue to wield substantial influence in advancing outcomes for both patients and society as a whole.
