The presented results of studies using PCR have shown that the frequency of detection of Human Papilloma Virus 16/18 type of the examined patients was 10%. The authors believe that PCR analysis should be used in the diagnosis of PVI as the screening because it can be used reliably in short time to obtain the results for large groups of examinees. However, in many cases, the positive result of HPV DNA studies indicate only the presence of infection, but will not reliably predict the development of cervical cancer.
