CLINICAL AND SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS OF PATIENTS WITH MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL DISORDERS IN THE POST-COVID PERIOD
Introduction: The long-term consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic still remain an urgent problem of our time.
Objective: the study of socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of persons with mental and behavioral disorders in the postcovid period for further improvement of treatment and rehabilitation measures in relation to this category of patients.
Materials and methods: clinical-psychopathological, clinical-dynamic. By the method of continuous selection, 1,670 case histories of patients with mental and behavioral disorders hospitalized in the psychosomatic departments of the RSСE at the «Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health» of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and at the «Mental Health Center in Almaty» for the period from April 2020 were studied. by January 2023: of these, 1,050 in the RСSE at the «Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Mental Health» of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 620 in at the «Mental Health Center in Almaty». For further study, 93 case histories of patients whose mental and behavioral disorders were directly related to a coronavirus infection were selected, which was confirmed by anamnesis, the fact of their hospitalization in infectious hospitals, positive results of PCR tests.
Results: the clinical picture of post-ovoid mental and behavioral disorders in patients who underwent COVID-19 was characterized by polymorphism of psychopathological symptoms and their gender difference: depressive (12-44.4%), insomniac (4-14.8%) and psycho-organic syndrome with cognitive impairment (4-14.8%) were more often detected in male patients, whereas in women, anxiety-phobic (26-39.4%) and asthenic (15-22.72%) syndromes were more often observed.
Conclusion: Among patients with mental and behavioral disorders of the postcovid period, middle-aged females prevailed, while young age is most common among males. Most of the examined patients are married and have a high level of education. The total number of patients was dominated by people who had undergone COVID-19 on an outpatient basis. Depressive and anxiety-phobic syndromes were prevalent in the examined patients. Psychopharmacotherapy of postcovid mental disorders included the administration of antidepressants in combination with neuroleptics and tranquilizers.
