USE OF THE EASYCARE STANDARD 2010 QUESTIONNAIRE IN GLOBAL GERIATRIC PRACTICE. LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction: Conducting comprehensive geriatric assessments (CGA) in combination with long-term health and social care management can improve the quality of life of older people. The EASYCare Standard 2010 tool is a CGA tool designed to assess the physical, mental and social functioning, as well as the unmet medical and social needs of older people in primary health care. Objective: to analyze the evidence of the reliability, validity and acceptability of the EASYCare Standard 2010 to assess the needs of older people. Methods: literature review in PubMed, PsycINFO, Ovid Embase, Cochrane databases using predefined search conditions for articles in English that report on the reliability, validity, acceptability and implementation of EASYCare in primary health care institutions. The relevant articles were critically evaluated. Results: twelve articles met the inclusion criteria and underwent data extraction. A descriptive synthesis was carried out, since there were many quantitative and qualitative results and characteristics. The evidence for the reliability and validity of the EASYCare Standard 2010 is good, and they have received numerous positive confirmations of acceptability at international level both from old people and health practitioners. Conclusions: All in all, EASYCare Standard 2010 is an effective, comprehensive and acceptable tool that focuses on the priorities of older people to ensure their own well-being. However, further research with the use of EASYCare is needed in the context of developed, underdeveloped and developing countries.
