CLINICAL APPLICATION OF DEXMEDETOMIDINE (DEXDORA) IN DELIRIUM AND PSYCHOSIS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY, REANIMATOLOGY AND INTENSIVE CARE. LITERATURE REVIEW.
Introduction. Adequate sedation of patients in intensive care units is one of the most urgent problems of modern anesthesiology and resuscitation. Delirium in the intensive care unit affects approximately 30% of patients despite the use of effective preventive strategies.
Search strategy. We conducted a literature search in the databases PubMed, Web of Science, Elibrary, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Keywords were used for the search: "delirium", "intensive care unit", "dexmedetomidine", "dexdor". The search revealed 924 publications. The current review includes 43 publications.
Results. This review includes an overview of the pathophysiology and types of delirium and describes the methods used to screen for delirium. Published studies related to the use of Dexmedetomidine for the treatment of delirium are also discussed. The authors provide guidance to ICU staff on the use of Dexmedetomidine in the context of evidence-based care for ICU patients with delirium.
Conclusion. The sedation technique using Dexmedetomidine provides a high level of comfort and the ability to activate patients with delirium, does not suppress spontaneous breathing, and does not cause significant side effects.
