Изучены возрастно-половые особенности смертности населения республики от злокачественных опухолей центральной нервной системы (ЗН ЦНС). Материалом послужили данные Агентства РК по статистике (таблица С 51) о смертности от ЗН ЦНС. Исследование ретроспективное за 7 лет (2004-2010). В результате установлено, что грубый показатель смертности от ЗН ЦНС составил у мужчин – 3,5±0,10/0000, а для женщин – 2,6±0,10/0000. ЧАСТОТА ВСТРЕЧАЕМОСТИ ФЕНОТИПИЧЕСКИХ ПРИЗНАКОВ ПРИ ПРОЛАПСЕ МИТРАЛЬНОГО КЛАПАНА СЕРДЦА У ДЕТЕЙ
Целью работы было изучить частоту встречаемости фенотипических признаков дисплазии соединительной ткани, характерных при пролобировании митрального клапана сердца у детей. Комплексное клинико-инструментальное исследование проведено 42 детям с пролапсом митрального клапана и 38 без него. Выражен-ность фенотипических признаков дисплазии соединительной ткани отмечена у 45,2% детей с пролапсом мит-рального клапана, что свидетельствует о генерализованном характере дисплазии.

CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDIES IN HEALTH SCIENCES
In this paper we present basic principles of planning and carrying out cross-sectional studies in health sciences as well as analyzing the data collected in these studies. We present practical examples of sample size and effect measures calculation for cross-sectional studies using online calculators and Epi Info software. Examples of studies using cross-sectional design from international peer-reviewed literature are also presented. This article provides general introduction to cross-sectional studies and does not substitute specialized literature in clinical epidemiology.
